Assess the application
We review the existing surface, use, water exposure, access, and any movement or previous failures.
A continuous material language. Microcement connects walls, floors, and architectural details through a finish planned around the way the space is used.
Discuss your projectThe approach
Microcement is a thin, layered decorative surface system. It can create a continuous appearance across suitable floors, walls, countertops, and architectural forms, with the substrate and protective system selected for each use. It is not simply a concrete-colored coating applied to any existing surface.
Terra Alto Living works on microcement projects throughout Orlando and Central Florida. We consider stability, junctions, water exposure, use, and maintenance before defining the finish. Samples establish the color and movement; assessment of the existing structure establishes what is practical.
Before the finish
A decorative microcement layer does not replace the structural substrate, movement provisions, drainage, or a required waterproofing system. Shower work needs particular attention to slope, transitions, penetrations, waterproofing, and the selected sealer. Existing tile or coatings require assessment before any overlay is considered; some projects need removal and rebuilding instead.
Working together
We review the existing surface, use, water exposure, access, and any movement or previous failures.
Preparation, reinforcement, waterproofing where required, finish layers, and sealer are planned together for the application.
A sample establishes the finish direction. The specified layers are applied with the required drying and curing intervals.
The selected protective system is completed, with guidance on return to use, cleaning, and maintenance.
Project questions
Sometimes, after assessing the tile bond, substrate stability, joints, moisture conditions, and the selected system. An overlay is not the right solution for every project, particularly where an existing assembly is failing.
Wet-area performance depends on the complete assembly, including the substrate, required waterproofing, detailing, and protective finish. The decorative layer alone should not be treated as a substitute for waterproofing.
Suitable systems can be specified for those uses. Wear, staining exposure, heat, cleaning, and the condition of the supporting surface all affect the recommendation and care requirements.
Timing depends on preparation, the area and complexity, required layers, drying conditions, sealing, and cure time. We establish the schedule around the selected system and project scope rather than promising a universal turnaround.
